ZEBRA MARCHING BAND |
Required Rehearsal Materials |
The Zebra Marching Band (ZMB) is an outdoor performance ensemble that meets as an extra curricular activity. The prerequisite for participating in the ZMB is concurrent enrollment in a band and/or orchestra class during the normal school day.
This ensemble consists of woodwinds, brass, percussion and color guard. While band students will perform on the instrument they study during the school day, orchestra students are encouraged to join either percussion or color guard. Many of our string students have success learning a keyboard instrument to participate in the front ensemble (non-marching unit on the front sideline) or learning rudimental drumming to perform in drum line. The Zebra Marching Band provides entertainment during WMHS home football games as well as performing for local Scholastic Marching Band competitions, local parades/events, MSBOA District 12 Marching Band Festival. The ZMB typically is most active from early August through the end of October, with some events also taking place through the "off season". The ZMB rehearses on weekday evenings with competitions taking place on Saturdays in the fall. Scholastic Marching BandsScholastic Marching Bands is the competition circuit that the Zebra Marching Band competes in. Marching band shows in this circuit typically have a more "theatrical" element to their design and execution.
